10 Simple Hippie HIKER RULES
These ten simple hiking rules will help you enjoy your hike and to stay safe.
#1
Plan your trip and inform others about the route you have selected. We also recommend that you hire a local if needed .
#2
Care: COMPASSION, AWARENESS, RE-AFFIRMATION, ENCOURAGEMENT. Share blessings and burdens. Pace to the slowest walker or plan for meeting points. Adapt the planned routes/times accordingly. Do not endanger others or yourself.
#3
Pay attention to the weather/fire burns etc.
Hiking over mountains during lightning can prove to be dangerous.
#4
Be prepared, even on short trips.
#5
Bring the necessary equipment so you can help yourself and others.
#6
Leave no trace. Be aware of the wildlife. Don't feed, don't become food. If possible, learn about native plants/animals for both benefits and dangers.
#7
Use a map and a compass.
Always know where you are.
Even if no power/coverage.
#8
Don’t be ashamed to turn around or cancel your plans.
#9
Conserve your energy and seek shelter if necessary. Always bring water and snacks even on short hikes. Learn simple survival skills, like how to start a fire and purify water.
#10
Embrace the suck and enjoy your hike!
